Bearcats lose and I'm in a sour mood

As my girlfriend will readily tell you, I am an insufferable grump when one of my beloved squads lose. The Vikings cause me heartache every fall. Last basketball season was the longest in my memory (Cincy went 2-14 in the conference) The Red Wings lose very rarely but when they fall in the playoffs I'm not someone to be around. UC lost to Louisville last night 28-24 Which explains my sour dour mood today on an otherwise sunny happy Sunday.
Last night, I had in my possession one the hottest tickets in town, A UC football ticket. They were playing their hated rivals from just 100 miles to the southwest, the Louisville Cardinals. Add the fact that it was homecoming and UC on their best start in a half century and there was a real buzz in the city. I talked to Big Rick who is a ticket broker (Scalping is legal in Cincinnati, if you have a vendors license.) He was telling me that tickets that go for $10-$25 normally, were being bought and sold for $100. That is heady stuff in this area, go to Columbus and its commonplace. In Cincinnati you get that price only for the Bengals.
Anyway, I went to the game and watched a thriller. Cincy is more a pro football than college football town, so the fans are still learning what it means to bring a true atomsphere to a stadium. Keep in mind, I have been to Michigan and Tennessee and Ohio State where they put 100K in the stadium and get plenty loud for the duration of the game. In Cincy, they got loud occasionally. I'm not knocking the 35,096 other people that were there (The two to three thousand Louisville fans excepted) but they still are learning what it is like to cheer and be noisy and create a real intimidating venue. With Shoemaker Center (I refuse to call it Fifth Third Arena) only a couple hundred yards to the east being one of the tougher venues for basketball, fans are still learning how to make Nippert Stadium the same way.
But like I said in the beginning, I'm a grump. UC lost to Louisville and as I exited Nippert Stadium with the other dejected Bearcat fans. I heard Louisville fans heckling from their upper deck seats as they cheered their squad raising the Keg of Nails rivalry trophy at the 50 yard line.
"Ya'll aint ready for the big time."
"Same old sorry-(expletive) Bearcats."
"Just an extra home game for Cardinal Nation."
I was angry and hurt that my team lost. My girl says I should take losses so hard, but I cant help it. The two teams I want UC to beat every year in football is Miami of Ohio and Louisville. Just to shut their mouthy fans up. What makes UC's loss doubly painful is that UK pulled a stunner on LSU winning in 3OT. That and Ohio State walked through another ho-hum win against Kent State and with Cal's loss to Oregon State will likely be the Number 1 team.
I live and work in an area that is saturated with UK and Ohio State fans and to have to hear them yak and crow about their teams is enough to make me nauseous. I know I'm whining. If UC was going to prove they belonged they should do so on a weekly basis. I'm going to dking 97's buffet to go eat and brood, I apologize for my rant but this is very catharic and hopefully UC will stay in the top 25.
Oh and by the way Pitt is next and they are gonna get it...
