See I knew that I was gonna have to pay for the Karma I used on Saturday, with Michigan rallying to win, Cincy starting fast and holding on against USF and ND losing. I got hammered on my picks, nothing went right and I'm in the uneviable position of having to root for both the Pokes and Steelers to win just to break even on the week...ugh.
But enough of my whining and moaning. Let me give serious dap to someone. No not Belichick or Brady. To Adrian Peterson. OH SNAP!!!! 296 yards in a 35-17 rout of the Chargers. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? I saw that he had a good day, but that kind of day is hall of fame material. Take this into account, Peterson's 315 total yards in offense were more than 9 teams gained in total offense on Sunday NINE TEAMS TOTAL OFFENSE!!!!
Keep in mind that the late great Walter Payton broke the record of 273 yards set by OJ Simpson in 1977 with a 275 yards game and that was the standard bearer for a generation of running backs. Corey Dillon broke that record with an improbable 278 yard game in October of 2000 against the Broncos, that record stood for less than 3 years until Jamal Lewis ran for 295 yards against the Browns, Lewis ironically became the first person to run for 200 yards against a team then run for 200 yards for that same team. AP only topped it by a yard, but could you see him breaking 3 bills?
I could.
This is a kid that many said had potential but was an injury concern. I would hope that Vikings head coach Brad Childress would decide that AP is his #1 dog and hot have him run back kicks anymore.
The game of the century was played at a playoff type level, but I'm glad its over with, though you know that the analysis will run ad infinitum for the next two or three days. Give credit to the Pats for a hard earned win, but the way the game ended with Manning fumbling the ball was an ill way for the game to be decided. Rodney Harrison picks him off, Teddy Bruschi sacking him on 4th down and causing a fumble deep in Pats territory or Manning pulling off the game winning score would have made this game worth the hype. You can better best believe that these two teams will meet in January, possibly in Foxboro with the stakes a lot higher.
I'll do more review on my disastorus week of picks either Monday or Tuesday, my work schedule got changed so the posts may be a little more infrequent, but like Shaft said you'll hear from me when I have something to say. Until Next Post Fellow Sports Fans.
